A rare bird is an exceptional or unique person. A one-of-a-kind. A true rarity.

We are all rare birds. Each one of us unique. None of us exactly like the other. We don’t have the same exact wrinkle lines when we smile. We don’t have the same amount of cellulite or stretch marks. We don’t have the same laugh. We don’t all crochet. We don’t all enjoy math. And we certainly don’t all balance in a perfect Warrior 3 seven days a week.

But, we all work together as a unit.
Coming together in community.
Embracing our uniqueness.
Learning from others. Encouraging others.
We all have something exceptional to offer.
Something different to bring to the table…errr, nest.

Our presence here in Clarkesville stems from a collective desire for community. For people to come together, to see and embrace their own uniqueness or awkwardness or whatever little quirks they’ve got going on.

We find ourselves surrounded by so many unique people. People who love big. People who are actively making a difference in the lives of others in this community and around the world.Y’all, Clarkesville is straight up bursting at the seams, full of kind people with big hearts, DOING THINGS.

But, we know it’s tough. Many times, we see a need and we want to take action, but we don’t know where to begin, or we don’t think that our little bit of time or our small donation will matter…so we do nothing.

But, we rare birds are do what we can with what we have kind of people. And what we have is a studio right downtown…where we can do yoga. So, let us be the liason that helps you help others. (And if we’re going for another cheesy bird metaphor here…let us be the stable nest where you take that first leap and begin to fly.)

Our First Fridays have been (and still are) filled with lots of Family Night Fun, and now we’re partnering with local community organizations and bringing even more togetherness to downtown with our donation-based, BE THE GOOD: CommUNITY Yoga class!

Every First Friday at 5pm, we’ll come together for a commUNITY vinyasa flow, where you come as you are and pay what you can. Whether you’ve been practicing yoga for years or you’ve never even stepped on a mat, you’re welcome here. CommUNITY night is a great way for you to pop in and try a class and be active, while actively helping others. Each month, we will be donating 100% of the proceeds to a different local charity. (To see each month’s recipient, check out our recent posts on facebook or instagram.)

Be the good. Be the change. Be YOU.

I have never enjoyed exercise of any kind except for my days of running in my late 20’s and early thirties. (I am now 53 years old). Never liked “group” exercise such as aerobic or step classes. Having recently been through an extremely stressful and depressing time after the loss of both my father in law and my father within 3 weeks of one another , I was having a very difficult time coping with my emotions and learning how to grieve. Throw in some anger to that equation and I realized I needed something to help me navigate this unknown territory. I reluctantly showed up for my first class over a month ago. Felt so “out of shape” at my first class, but have been back at least 3 times per week since as I knew there was really something life altering after my first class. I am happy to say that I am already feeling so much stronger physically, but more importantly, feel more emotionally stable and beginning to feel joy again in my life. Never thought that possible after losing my father. Trust me when I tell you that this is the most welcoming group of people and the most peaceful place ever. I now cannot imagine how I “coped” with stress, grief, and emotional issues over the recent losses in my family without this place and the extraordinary people who teach us “how” to transform our lives. Can’t wait for the next class, and the next, and the next, and so on….
